A Week of Praise

Psalm 115: 1 says "Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." We often sing about this great proclaimation, but over the past week, it has been the heartbeat of Radiant Church. God has blessed in ways that ONLY HE CAN!
It started last Thursday morning when many of us were awakened with the amazing news that during the night, our guitarist Chris Hall had gotten a phone call that he had a kidney donor. He and his wife Cheyenne (pictured) serve faithfully each week at our church and this has been a long trial for them. They went to Charleston for his transplant, and he is on the road to recovery. OUR GOD PROVIDES ALL OUR NEEDS!
Sunday morning was an incredible service where we once again saw so many new faces. It is awesome to see people from every walk of life come together and love on each other. The service closed with the salvation of Jewell Garst, someone that many of our leadership members have prayed for over a decade! OUR GOD IS MIGHTY TO SAVE!
We had our first membership class on Sunday night. New families are being brought to Radiant, and it was great to get to hang out with them. After the class, a little 8 year old girl asked Jesus into her heart!
And if all that wasn't enough to show His Glory, we had another amazing night at the student Life Group on Wednesday. A teenage boy that was brought by his friends met Jesus as his Lord and Savior. We can't wait to see how God wants to USE these teenagers as many of them are answering His call to serve.
ISN'T HE AMAZING? We could never plan or orchestrate this. It is His fame that we want to spread. We boast in Him alone! As Pastor Ricky says, this is only a glimpse of what God wants to do in His people. We are ready to see what is in store!
Please continue to pray for our mission partners, Zach and Noelle Slagel, while overseas on a vision trip. They have finished their time in Cambodia and part of Indonesia, but are currently in Bali. They have had some warfare raging through visa issues and sickness, but pray they receive the clarity they are seeking.

Kaleo

This week, we kicked off our new series, "Kaleo." The word means "called," and as we are laying the foundations of Radiant Church, we must obey our callings. Pastor Ricky shared what it was all about to CARE! Jesus was moved with compassion, and we are to follow that example as we are called to care about our neighbors. The people of Radiant Church are GETTING IT! New faces are there each week because we are loving RADICALLY and inviting lost people to show how we care! Yesterday was our highest attendance in adults, and it is only going to get better!

Our volunteers are incredible! We have over 40 quality, passionate volunteers on rotation that are working with our children. That is AWESOME for a church of our size! A big thanks to the extra teenagers who are showing up at 8 am to unload. If you are not on a volunteer team yet, but want to get plugged in- we need extra help with clean up in the cafe and packing up the trailers. Just hang around after the service and we will get you a place to serve! To God be the glory for the great things He is doing at Radiant!

Wednesday night will be the first Life Group for students in middle school and high school. We will have worship, bible study, food, obstacle course, corn hole, ladderball, and basketball. Invite every student you know to come and experience Radiant Student Ministry!

The First Offical Services of Radiant Church

Words cannot explain the feeling at the launch service! God was in our midst as we began weekly services at Berea High School. We had around 200 people total for our first time, and there was such excitement! We kicked off our new series "UNSTOPPABLE." We believe in an UNSTOPPABLE God, who gave us an UNSTOPPABLE Vision, with UNSTOPPABLE Partners, and we are expecting UNSTOPPABLE Results!
At our second service, our volunteers showed their devotion by experiencing portable church in the rain. It was all worth it when we had 3 salvations! PRAISE THE LORD! Seeing lives changed is what Radiant is all about, and that is happening already. We get to have baptism next week and it is going to be awesome! As we now look forward to meeting every Sunday, we pray that you would join us. We serve an awesome God and want to share His love with you in a Relevant, Relational, and Radical way every Sunday!

Exciting Times

Exciting things have been happening in the life of Radiant Church over the past few weeks, and we believe it is only a taste of what is in store.

1. Our worship pastor and his awesome wife were blessed with the birth of their beautiful twin daughters on May 31st. Zoe Noelle and Kara Ashlen are now part of the Radiant family! The girls are still in NICU, but are improving each day. Pray for them, as well as Corey and Carrie, as the babies get stronger. We can't wait for them to come home!

2. Just as exciting as a physical birth, we celebrated the symbol of spiritual birth as well. Our first baptism service was AWESOME! We got to see Liz Meloche take a step of faith and publicly show that Jesus is Lord of her life. The decision to follow Christ was made long ago, and Liz has walked as an example of a disciple. Now, she has followed through with baptism to represent the change in her life. It was very special to have so many friends come support Liz on that day!

3. Our second Vision Meeting was UNBELIEVEABLE! We have had so many people show interest in the church plant, but it was time to see who was willing to commit to serving. Our Launch team now has over 40 committed members who will be serving at Radiant! Please pray as we meet with others who may be coming on board. We are looking for people who are ready to be Relevant, Relational, and Radical!

Baptism

We are pumped about our first baptism coming up on June 13th at 2pm. It is going to be held at the Meloche home at 306 Berea Forest Circle (if you need directions, call 246-0769). At Radiant, we believe the Bible teaches baptism as the next step after giving your life to Jesus. Baptism is "going public" and showing others your commitment to following Christ. It's a sign of identification as a new person, it's commanded by Jesus, and it shows our obedience. Baptism isn't what saves you...it's kinda like a wedding ring. The ring doesn't make you married, but is a symbol to your commitment to someone else. Baptism is that outward symbol that you are now living your life for someone else...and His name is Jesus! If you plan on attending the celebration, or would like to talk to someone about being baptized, let us know at contact@radiantchurch.cc!
After the baptism, we will be cooking out by the pool and enjoying the fellowship of each other's families. Bring your swimsuits, towels, and family!

Then, we will head over to Fluor Field for to see the Greenville Drive take on the Rome Braves at 7pm. This event is open to everyone! If you are planning to come, but may be a little late, please let us know so that we get you a ticket! We just want to spend some time hanging out and enjoying America's favorite game!

Vision Meeting

It's official! The first vision meeting of Radiant Church is in the books! It was so exciting to put the new sign out on the lawn and wait in anticipation of who would arrive. WOW! This is what happened! It was more that we could imagine or plan, but knew that God was the orchestrator. We had 34 people, including 5 children participate in a night that made our dreams of Radiant Church a reality. IT IS REALLY HAPPENING! The fact that our launch team could possibly triple just based on those people was not nearly as exciting as seeing brand new people there that are currently unchurched or dechurched. God sent special people to confirm our calling as men and women shared how they had turned from a connection with the local body because they were burned out by "doing church." We don't want to just see a bunch of people move to Radiant from another local church, but see those who are far from God or disconnected come to closer to Him! More than ever, the leadership of Radiant is inspired to become the Church as it was intended to be! Thanks to Joe, who did an amazing job on a promo video that showed the heart of our vision. The unity that God has given us is simply incredible!

If you missed out last night, don't worry because our next vision meeting is June 14th at 6pm! If you can't wait that long to hear more, email us at contact@radiantchurch.cc or call our pastor at 616-0122.

The Timeline- UPDATED 7/24/09

Here is a timeline of how Radiant Church is being born...
- In 2004, God gave some of our leadership a vision for planting a new church in the Northwest area of Greenville...specifically, the Furman area. The dream started with a specific piece of property (that we still may own one day!). The timing was not clear, nor were the leaders equipped.
-In August 2008, the senior pastor and some other leaders went to San Diego and saw church planting in action as part of a missions team for Elevate Church. God begin to stir in hearts the need for new works to draw more people to His kingdom.
-In Fall 2008, several leaders answered the call to church planting, but the location was unclear.
-On March 24, God woke up our senior pastor, Ricky Motes, with the verse 1 Cor. 2:9. He found freedom and hope knowing that God had great plans ahead. The rest of the team already knew that Ricky was called to lead this church, so it was no surprise when he shared this vision.
-After reading scriptures, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, Simple Church, and Courageous Leadership, God finally began revealing His big picture for our lives. His voice was loud, the direction was clear, and dream was alive.
- The name "Radiant Church" was selected on April 8th. See the reason at www.radiantchurch.cc. Our discipleship process was decided with "Relevant, Relational, and Radical."
-On April 10th, we purchased our domain name and began the set up of our website, as well as set up our PO BOX and email accounts. We also received our EIN number from the IRS.
- On April 15th, our worship pastor and his wife came on board to serve at Radiant.
- On April 16th, Radiant Church became an official non-profit incorporation in the state of South Carolina, and we set up our first bank account. We decided on a local high school as our temporary location for the church launch.
- On April 17th, God provided state of the art sound equipment, lighting, and a trailer to use for portable church.
-On April 18th, an awesome friend designed our church logo that was selected to represent Radiant Church.
-On April 20th, another family was officially added to our launch team. This one family is gifted in music, media production, sound, marketing, counseling, and teaching of God's word. What a blessing!
- On April 24th, we finished our required bylaws. Thanks to Kevin and Chris for showing us that we didn't need to graduate law school to understand them!
-On April 25th, we selected our children and student logos. They look excellent!
-On April 29th, filed the Federal 1023 form for Federal non-profit form. WHAT A RELIEF!
-On April 29th, the ARC pre-application was completed.
-On May 3, we began planning a celebration in honor of our first baptism candidate.
-On May 10th, we had our first Vision meeting with 34 people in attendance. God is so good.

-On May 13th, Ricky had his phone interview with Association of Related Churches. The full application is now completed.
-We now have our children's curriculum planned out, thanks to Lifechurch.tv and their amazing generosity to see churches become equipped with topnotch materials.
-On May 18th, we discovered that we can't partner with ARC because they had already committed to helping launch another church in downtown Greenville. They had to turn down 2 other applications. That equates to GOD IS ON THE MOVE IN GREENVILLE! We are trusting "where God guides, He provides."
- On May 22, we signed the contract for our facilities lease. We will be launching from Berea High School. (The cool thing about this is that at least one member of each of the five core families graduated from this school. In fact, several of us prayed on this site during a DNow three years ago that "Jesus would be Lord over BHS" and never thought we would be planting a church there! Talk about going reaching our "Jerusalem" and then the rest of the world!
-Our Launch Date has been decided...September 13th! We will have a preview service on August 30th.
-On June 13th, we had our first baptism celebration.
-On June 28th, Brad Booher became the executive pastor of Radiant Church.
-On July 23rd, we received our letter from the IRS proclaiming us a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

Pray for our leadership team about these things:
IT IS CRUNCH TIME! We are believing Him to provide. We need at least $15,000 to pay for some of the basic needs. Some of the major items that we still need to buy are the projection screen, projector, a laptop for Fellowship One, and a portable sound system for the kids area.

Welcome to Radiant Church!

Welcome to Radiant Church! We will keep you posted on the progress of our church plant as God guides us through this journey!
